1) First, I want to thank you for taking the time to do this interview with me!  When did you know that writing is what you were called to do? What is it about being a writer that you love the most? What about being a writer frustrates you the most?

You are welcome. Thank you so much for this great opportunity to be interviewed by Write2bemagazine. When I was around 8 years old I noticed that I love to read and write. I started writing for the school newspaper in Elementary school where I had a passion to write stories about other students who were doing phenomenal things to make a difference in the school and within their communities. By the time, I got to high school I started writing poems and poetry. Writing has always been something I love to do in my spare time. In college, I knew that one day I would become an Author, but my focus went towards a career in Human Services after I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in Public Affairs. Life experiences happened and I reunited with my love for writing in 2016 when I became one of the co-authors in an anthology book called “Pain 2 Passion: Our Valley Experience, which made me a #1 Bestselling Author.

What I love about being a writer the most is being able to express myself openly through my writing. I am Visionary and Creative Thinker, so I enjoy writing in books, in my magazine publication, and on social media platforms. What frustrates me the most about being a writer is when I experience writer’s block where I lose interest in my writing. This usually means as a writer you need to take a break from writing for awhile until your passion for writing comes back to you.

2) Can you tell us a little about your book(s) and where our readers can find out more about them and you?

My first self-published book released in 2016, was called “GROWTH-My Journey of Spiritual Growth To Emotional Healing And Forgiveness” which is an inspirational book about my journey of learning to heal emotionally through prayer, fasting, scriptures and building a closer relationship with God.

My first children’s book, “God Did The Miracle: A Special Blessing From God” is a Christian children’s book that tells the story of a married couple praying for a child. God answers their prayer with a beautiful baby girl.

My second children’s book, “The Beautiful Little Princess Who Prays For Everyone” is about Princess Aniya who prays for family, friends, and every person she comes in contact with who needs prayer. It is an inspirational children’s book that teaches the power of prayer to receive miracles from God.

I have written two devotional prayer and scripture journals. “God’s Readings on Women to Heal  30-Day Devotional Scripture Journal” was created to encourage, inspire, and uplift women to pray and seek God in every circumstance while expressing themselves through writing. It will help women to heal as they read and apply the scriptures to their own personal lives.

“Believers Growing in Christ 30 Days of Prayer and Scripture Devotional Journal” was created to help the reader grow in a closer relationship with God when applying faith to receive answers to their prayers. It will assist in strengthening the Believer’s faith to continue to grow daily while overcoming everyday situations that cause emotional hurt and pain. This devotional journal teaches the reader that with consistent prayers and scriptures it will bring forth answers to their prayers, blessings, breakthroughs, and miracles.

All of my books are available on Amazon. You can also order directly from my website at https://www.growthwomensprayerministry.com/online-store

3) What projects are you currently working on?

I am presently working on several book projects this year including one children’s book. The big project that I am working on right now is an anthology book for women.

4) What has been your most significant achievement as a writer thus far? Where do you see yourself within your career in the next five years?

The most significant achievement as a writer has been when I receive excellent reviews about how my books have encouraged or inspired someone in a positive way.  I have been nominated for Author Of The Year with ACHI Magazine Awards and nominated three years in a row for an Author Elite Awards. I see myself in five years writing #1 International Bestselling Books with own publishing company that will impact people around the world.

5) How have you dealt with rejection within your writing career?

Rejection has never meant nothing to me because for every No, God gives me a Yes with a better opportunity. I am not a follower, but a Leader who knows that I am as a Child of God and a Daughter of the King. Rejection is God’s redirection for me to walk in His purpose for my life.

6) Do you believe that there is ever a point in life where it’s too late for an aspiring writer to become successful in this industry?  Do you feel a late start would hinder their chances?

It is never too late for an aspiring writer to become successful in the industry. As long as we are alive, we can accomplish our goals and fulfill our purpose in life. A late start does not hinder a person’s chances. If anything it should motivate them to persevere to achieve their dreams of becoming successful in the industry.

7) How has the current state of the world affected your writing? Because writing is an isolated practice, do you find it easier to deal with quarantine? Has it stifled your creativity or has it made you even more driven to get things done?

The Covid-19 pandemic definitely affected me as an Author because of all the conferences or events being rescheduled due to restrictions. However, I brainstormed and created more opportunities for future book projects during this time. I have been doing well during the quarantine, because it allowed me more time to be creative and work on a lot of new ventures. The pandemic has made me more driven to get things accomplished and I have birthed a lot of new things that I never did before the pandemic.

8) What are your thoughts about how the publishing industry as it is being represented today? Do you lean more towards traditional publishing or self-publishing as a preference? Does being a hybrid author interest you?

I think Authors need to do their research before selecting a publishing company.  They need to make sure they do not get overcharged. Personally, I lean more towards self-publishing as a preference because you can save more money. I self-published all of my books and it has worked out well for me. No, being a hybrid author does not interest me at all. I am the Publisher of my own books.

9) I feel like writing is a remarkable tool to help people not only express themselves, but also to cope emotionally and mentally.  I know for me I write to be and feel more authentic. What unique quality is there about you, about your art, that you feel represents your authenticity?  How does writing help you to be more empowered in your purpose?

My unique quality is that I write to encourage, inspire, and uplift the reader. In my books and journals, in which I include prayers and scriptures is to help my readers build a closer relationship with God. My books also help the readers to heal emotionally from past or present challenging circumstances.  I write inspirational children books to encourage the reader on the importance of prayer and having a relationship with God.

Writing has helped me to feel more empowered in my purpose because it gives me freedom to express myself through telling stories in children’s books. In my inspirational Christian books/journals, I coach the readers in their healing process and motivate them to build a closer relationship with God while having a stronger prayer life.
