Write 2 Be Magazine

For the Artists Who Like to Remain Strictly Out of the Box

Blog Spotlight: Shawn L. Bird blog by Shawn L. Bird

This blog is packed with a lot of things that are helpful for a writer who wants to read some good poetry, or a writer who just wants to get motivated again.  It is an eclectic blog written by a teacher, a poet, and an author.  I only recently started following her blog but so far I like what I see and it is inspiring how dedicated she is to maintaining her blog with information along with her personal work.  The poetry, especially, makes for a nice read.  She updates her blog on a daily basis so you most certainly will not get bored with its content.  I haven’t regretted following this blog and I think you take the time to go check it out you will want to follow it as well.

About Shawn L. Bird

Shawn Bird is a high school English teacher, author, and poet in the beautiful Shuswap region of British Columbia. She loves her students and promises to keep teaching even if she wins (or earns!) a million dollars. She may hire a marker and will definitely take longer holidays, but she’ll still teach English for as long as the school district lets her! She is represented by literary agent Patricia Ocampo of Transatlantic Agency.

Shawn is excited about the growing success of Grace Awakening. It was written as a YA (Young Adult) novel, but it definitely crosses genres and ages. Grace Awakening is first love meeting ancient myth. Check out the details on the Grace Awakening page linked above.

She has some poetry books available see the links on the Poetry page linked above.

Shawn is big into federations. She is a member of both the BC Teachers’ Federation and the Federation of BC Writers. For good measure, she is also a member of the Noth Okanagan Shuswap Teachers Association and the Shuswap Association of Writers, since it is always good to associate with other teachers and writers!

Shawn is a Past President of the Rotary Club of Salmon Arm (Shuswap) and a former Rotary Youth Exchange Student to Finland. This suggests that people believe she is a responsible member of society. She is conversationally fluent in two languages besides English, and dabbles at a variety of others. She loves language and communicating across cultures. Shawn moderates a blog of (theoretically) weekly non-sectarian Rotary Invocations, as well.
